In every wiring system that I work on or install, they all have one thing in common: they are completely useless without electricity. They are dead. Be it a backyard shed or a multi-million dollar high rise, without electricity, the wiring is useless.
I work on jobs all the time where my purpose is the same: provide power to dead wiring. Somehow the wiring has lost its connection to the source of power and it has become dead. It is lifeless.
The Bible says, “by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans 5:12). Adam and Eve were created by God in the garden of Eden perfect and sinless and in perfect communion with God. But then, they disobeyed God by eating from the tree which He commanded them not to eat from and they became dead spiritually and separated from God.
As descendants of Adam, we are all born dead in our sin and separated from God. We are as lifeless as a wire without electricity. We have lost our connection from the Source of life, and, if we aren’t connected to God, we will spend eternity in hell, forever separated from God. It says in Revelation 20:15 “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
God provided a way of connection when he sent His son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for the sins of the world. He arose three days later with victory over sin and death. He suffered the penalty of your sin so that you might have eternal life. All that is needed is for you to trust in Him. Romans 10:9,10,13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
The penalty has been paid and God’s gift to you is eternal life. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23
All you need to do is pray to God and ask Him for this gift. Pray and ask Him for eternal life and He will give it. You can then know that you will go to heaven when you die.
You can be “quickened” or “made alive” through Jesus Christ. Just as electricity brings life to dead wiring, Jesus Christ brings life to our dead souls.
